Partner Farmer Project

Aura Minerals is pleased to inform that the "Partner Farmer Project", developed by the Serrote de Laje Project (formerly, Arapiraca Project) team, has won the top award for the 13th event of the Premio de Excelencia da Indústria Minero-Metalúrgica Brasileira (prize for excellence of the Brazilian mineral industry) sponsored by the Minerios & Minerales mining magazine. The Company was given the award in a ceremony held on April 5, 2011 in Belo Horizonte, Brazil.

The Partner Farmer Project was created in 2010 to help the communities surrounding the Serrote Project to diversify their crops and improve their agricultural earnings.  The project introduced seven new crops, including better varieties of corn, using land owned by the Company.  The project has also made such land sustainable, generating a profit to be used for maintenance and re-investment.  The community members who participated in the 2010 project received payment for their share of the crops in an event held on February 26, 2011 at site.  At this event we invited other community members to participate in the 2011 project.

We consider this and other programs being developed as credits into a "social savings account" that will enable the Company to maintain a healthy and balanced relationship with the communities.
