Pre-production development is underway for the re-start of the Aranzazu Copper-Gold-Silver Mine scheduled to begin production in 2010. Significant gold and silver by-products and exploration potential substantially enhance the value of the Aranzazu Project.

Project Highlights

The Aranzazu Project is located within the Municipality of Concepción del Oro in the north eastern region of the State of Zacatecas, Mexico, and covers approximately 12,960 hectares. The property can be accessed by paved highway from both the city of Zacatecas located 250 kilometres to the southwest and from the city of Saltillo located 112 kilometres to the northeast. Both Zacatecas and Saltillo are serviced by daily domestic and international flights. The Aranzazu Project is  an underground operation, which produces a single copper, gold and silver concentrate via floatation process. In December 2008, the Company temporarily suspended mining activities at the Aranzazu Project due to weak economic conditions. Development work began in October 2009 on a new ramp to access the high-grade BW, Mexicana, and Arroyos Azules zones targeted for near-term mining. Mill upgrades to take production throughput capacity up to 2,600 tonnes per day also began in October 2009.  A further expansion is planned to increase throughput to 3,000 tonnes per day.  Planned restart of operations is expected in the second quarter of 2010. Aura Minerals acquired the Aranzazu Project in June 2008 and holds a 100% interest in the project.
